Whistler Recreation Trails Strategy

We led the community engagement and supported strategy development for the project, working with Cascade Environmental Resources Group. The Recreation Trails Strategy is a high-level framework that that now guides decisions about how Whistler develops, improves, accesses, funds, and manages non-motorized trails and trail amenities (e.g., staging areas, signage, etc.). It addresses key topics like environmental protection, community access, and infrastructure, reflecting extensive community engagement and the input of First Nations.

The strategy includes these specific elements that were developed as part of the planning process:

  • Environmentally Responsible Trail Planning Guidelines
  • Trail Access and Staging Guidelines
  • Trail Review and Approval Process Flowcharts
  • Trail network Areas Suitability Analysis and Recommendations
  • Whistler’s Recreation Trails Infographic
  • Maps
  • Evolving Terminology
