Okanagan Regional Library Strategic Plan

The Okanagan Regional Library (ORL) wished to update its strategic plan to guide its 30 community libraries for the next 4-5 years, and ensure each branch offers relevant and appealing programs, services and resources that met current needs and to attract new members. Our approach consisted of an extensive community and organizational engagement process that included an online survey that was completed by over 4000 people, specialized engagement strategies targeting harder to reach populations, a scan of best practices and emerging trends for public libraries to stay abreast of, and the development of community profiles informed by the latest census data. The final product was an ambitious and inspiring strategic plan that will strengthen the ORL’s role as an inclusive and accessible space, and essential resource for the communities it serves.
