Whistler’s Vision and Official Community Plan

WCS provided community planning and engagement services to assist the RMOW in the preparation of a renewed Community Vision and an updated Official Community Plan.

Two phases of community input employed a variety of techniques, including community forum events, an ideabook, an online survey, a web-based tool to easily view the draft OCP chapters, social media polls, and postcards to the future. Engagement numbers included 1105 responses gathered during phase 1 and approximately 130 people at the phase 2 forum and 270 submissions via the online tool.

The extensive planning process resulted in a vision and OCP that are aspirational, inspiring, comprehensive, and compelling. They build upon Whistler’s enduring vision as a destination resort community, seeking to protect and reinforce what makes Whistler a special place to live and visit, and to guide Whistler’s on-going evolution.
